Resolution 6: In Support of the 2010 - 2015 National Agenda of the National Association for Court Management
WHEREAS, the Conference of Chief Justices and the Conference of State Court Administrators are committed to ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in the administration of justice in the state court systems and the improvement of the court management profession; and
WHEREAS, the National Association for Court Management (NACM) is a professional association of court managers from all levels and types of courts that provides court management professionals with opportunities to increase their proficiency while working to improve the administration of justice; and
WHEREAS, in 2005, NACM members developed a national agenda in an effort to drive their program priorities and to improve the court management profession from 2005 to 2010; and
WHEREAS, in 2009, NACM leadership began a review and assessment of their national agenda, giving consideration to the current status of court management and the increasing demands placed on courts; and
WHEREAS, as a result of that review and after thoughtful consideration, NACM revised their national agenda and adopted the following six priorities for the coming five years (2010- 2015):
- Emphasizing caseflow management improvements;
- Sustaining excellence in difficult budget times;
- Enhancing public perceptions of the courts and increasing community collaboration;
- Promoting improved court leadership and governance;
- Preparing for and responding to trends; and
- Supporting professional court management education at two levels - (1) in-service education targeting the NACM Core Competencies and (2) university and college-level programs conferring a certificate or degree; and
WHEREAS, at their 2010 annual meeting, NACM members formally embraced these priorities as guiding principles;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Conference of Chief Justices and the Conference of State Court Administrators endorse NACM's 2010 – 2015 National Agenda and pledge to work with NACM to implement the agenda.
