Expression of Gratitude to Counsel for the Conference of Chief Justice's Amicus Briefs in Wolfson v. Concannon and Williams-Yulee v. The Florida Bar
Resolution 1 Expression of Gratitude to Counsel for the Conference of Chief Justices' Amicus Briefs in Wolfson v. Concannon and Williams-Yulee v. The Florida Bar
WHEREAS, the Conference of Chief Justices (the Conference) decided to file amicus briefs in Wolfson v. Concannon and Williams-Yulee v. The Florida Bar; and
WHEREAS, the Conference obtained the pro bono services of Igor Timofeyev of Paul Hastings LLP, George Patton Jr. of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP, and Karl J. Sandstrom of Perkins Coie LLP to draft the briefs and work with the Conference Amicus Brief Review Team to revise and refine them; and
WHEREAS, the counsel named above worked within tight deadlines to complete successive drafts of each brief, requiring considerable nuance and subtlety to reflect the views of the Conference; and
WHEREAS, the legal acumen and dedication of those counsel made it possible for the Conference to file exceptional briefs that successfully supported the parties defending the Code of Judicial Conduct; and
WHEREAS, the Conference recognizes in particular the role of Igor V. Timofeyev of Paul Hastings LLP as lead counsel in preparing two briefs in Wolfson v. Concannon filed with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and the brief in Williams-Yulee v. The Florida Bar filed with the United States Supreme Court;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Conference of Chief Justices expresses its profound gratitude to:
- Igor V. Timofeyev, George W. Abele, David Pekarek Krohn, and Danielle R. A. Susanj of Paul Hastings LLP
- George Patton of Bose, McKinney & Evans LLP
- Karl Sandstrom and Joshua Kaul of Perkins Coie LLP
